Jon Eaton

Jon Eaton graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in December, 1980. Following graduation he moved to Boulder, Colorado, and became the repair tech for Folk Arts Music. In 1984 he was appointed manager of Folk Arts, while continuing to repair acoustic and electric guitars. Jon purchased the store in partnership with with his cousin Craig Ferguson and his brother William in 1985, and changed the name to H. B. Woodsongs, in honor of their grandfather H. B. Olson. At the same time, Jon changed the name of his repair business to Woodsongs Lutherie.

Jon managed H. B. Woodsongs until 1989, when he sold the store. He continues to operate Woodsongs Lutherie, and presently employs three luthiers: Mike Stephens, Matt Bergdorf, and Dana Behl. Matt and Dana are also graduates of Roberto-Venn. Jon's business has flourished in his twenty-one years as a luthier. He operates one of the largest repair business in the country, attracting many local and touring musicians who seek his expertise.

In 1994 Jon wrote a repair curriculum for the R-V School which led to the expansion of the basic guitar building course into the current Guitar Making and Repair Course. He is a featured guest lecturer at R-V and continues to help the instructors evaluate the repair portion of the course. Jon is also a member of the R-V Advisory Committee.

Jon lives in Lyons, Colorado with his wife Tracy, and sons Jackson and Nicholas.
