He repaired and made pickups for his own guitars in small quantities until the mid 90’s when he wrote a book on pickup winding. Since then his business, Lollar Guitars has become exclusively about making pickups. Lollar designs one-of-a-kind pickups for special applications, makes reproductions of old pickups no longer made, and has a standard line of pickups that are sold to the general public and guitar manufacturers including: Fender custom shop, PRS custom shop, Heritage Guitars, Collings, National and many small custom builders. Lollar Guitars employs 18 people and is located in downtown Tacoma Washington in the Dome District.
