Nectar '99

Recipe for originality; First you add a singer/bassist with an ear for the rock classics of the 60's. Throw in a singer/guitarist with a love for the blues and modern rock. Add a drummer fully entrenched in the glam rock of the 80's. Then, if that isn't enough, top it off with an electric cellist with roots deep in the real classics. Mix thoroughly and you have Nectar Quartet.

In a world sometimes overflowing with stale formulated music, along comes a band driven to be original. Nectar Quartet strives to create work that rises above the rest. With bone crushing originals like PIG coexisting alongside hauntingly melodic barrages like Suicide this is a group intent on redefining originality. Nectar Quartet's new self produced cd drip showcases the bands gift for melody and subtle harmonic shifts. Obviously, much work and care went into the making of this album. Strong song structures coupled with catchy hooks make this disc a must in any rock aficionados collection. The use of the acoustic and electric cello adds texture and new dimensions to already powerful songs.

In the beginning Nectar was no Quartet …just three transplanted rockers attempting to create a lot of sound. (A few years in the rock & roll trenches back east taught these guys what it takes to bring an audience to it's feet). While working up a new tune one day, an accident of monumental proportions occurred as if by fate. The building where the group jammed also happened to accomadate the cello phenom Rachello. Listening to a playback of a freshly recorded demo track revealed a startling discovery. Bleeding through the wall and into the recording was a perfectly in key cello! It was an epiphany! The band then set out on a quest to enlist the talents of this diva. Giving in a little to easy to the embarassing begging Rachello joined and the Nectar Quartet was complete.

In the last two years Nectar Quartet has came along way fast! Trips to Hollywood to headline The Whisky, playing shows in and around their hometown of Tempe, Arizona and  releasing thier new recording DRIP this band is on a roll!
